The phoenix is an immortal bird that cyclically regenerates or is otherwise born again. While it's part of Greek mythology, this painting is an amalgamated artwork that combines acrylics with Tataki-zomé, known as 'flower pounding' or 'plant bashing.
The circle is regenerated when flowers from my British garden bloom and then die in the autumn, but I preserve their colour and use them to make artwork that lives forever.
