Beach Pebble

Cretan memory

I woke up at 7am by heaving heat was whilst I could hear the wind moving gently the impressively deep pink flowers of the Hotel's bougamviglia. Slowly I moved my body in bed and tried to sleep a tiny bit more but it was impossible, the bright clear blue skies and the chickens arguing noticeably from the farm next door stopped my attempts for a failed lie in. So I took the defeat and made my way to the local pool cafe to start my morning with ...what else? a strong ''ADE KALIMERA'' Greek Hellenic cafe. I went down the steps, slowly and meditatively ( or in a very sleepy approach), and each step was sacredly welcoming the amazing aromas of wild oregano and thyme. I huged my coffee like nothing else was more important in the world that instant moment, I robotically went in the car and loaded up the map. The plan today was to reach the Cedar Wood beach, off Chania, in Crete. The windows are opened wide , the salt of the distant beaches and the scents of all the flowers were mixing with our bodily odours in the heat of Greece. After 45 min drive and another 20 min walk in the sun (kata-mesimero-lunch time heat), we saw this amazingly natural beach side full of aromatic all shapes and forms Cedar Wood trees, there were people quietly enjoying the divine views, feeing the thin hot sand gently massaging their toes and the sea was amalgamated with impressively large wild rocks in a long term creative relationship. I thought for a minute that I was dreaming...I heard about this beach but could not believe my eyes when it was right in front of me: I  promised to capture this image for ever and then I decided to create the collection of Greek Summer pebbles, so the memory will reach as many people as possible and this way I will share the memory with the Greek scenery lovers. This envisaged quieted my mind, brought me peace and there I was, taking my paints out and starting working on the hot Greek pebbles that lay down on my feet.

Nature, art, and painting can set us free, as long as we let go!

Take care and remember to look after yourself!
